Apple Launches HomeView Hub, HomePod mini 2 and a New Apple TV 4K

Apple unveiled the HomeView smart hub, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K on October 13. Prices, ship dates and the EU exclusion explained.

Apple introduced three home products on October 13: the HomeView smart hub, a second-generation HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K. MacRumors reports that Apple held no event for the launch, and pre-orders opened the same day. The Apple HomeView hub is the most ambitious of the three, and it is built around the company's Siri AI features. Most of the lineup ships in November, with the HomePod mini 2 arriving a few weeks earlier.

HomeView.

HomeView costs $299 and has a 7-inch display, Siri AI and support for up to six people, according to MacRumors. It can recognise faces and switch between household and personal views. Pre-orders are open for a launch on November 13. AI Weekly reports the device will ship in eight countries, and that it will not be sold in the European Union, because the advanced Siri features it needs are not available there under the AI Act.

Apple TV 4K.

The new Apple TV 4K starts at $299 for a 128GB model. It uses an A19 chip and has three far-field microphones, so people can give voice commands without the remote, TechCrunch reports. MacRumors says the updated Siri Remote, which adds Find My support, is sold separately for $59. TechCrunch adds that the Apple TV can produce four-speaker surround sound when paired with a HomePod mini 2 or HomePod 2. Pre-orders started October 13, with shipping on November 13.

HomePod mini 2.

The HomePod mini 2 costs $149 and uses a faster S10 chip, according to MacRumors. It comes in new colours and adds a feature Apple calls Sound Glow. It is scheduled to launch on October 30. MacRumors also reports that the speaker will not support Siri AI at launch, a detail that conflicts with the way its own story describes all three devices, so buyers who want that feature should check Apple's product page before ordering.

What is still unclear.

Several details conflict across the coverage. The Siri AI support question for the HomePod mini 2 is the clearest example. The EU exclusion for HomeView comes from AI Weekly and rests on the AI Act's rules for the advanced Siri features, and the reporting does not include an Apple statement on that point. Pricing outside the United States was not detailed in the reports reviewed. The dates in this article follow MacRumors' recap, which is the most detailed account of the day.

Apple also launched an Apple Home Collection of cameras, a lock and thermostats, and ADT will offer in-home installation of HomeView, according to MacRumors. For buyers, the timing matters. The HomePod mini 2 arrives first, on October 30, while HomeView and the Apple TV 4K ship on November 13.
